Yesterday I discussed the importance of your feet being hip width apart, but it is just as important to have correct balance and weight going through your feet to ensure the least amount of stress is being put through your supportive tissues. So the next thing to think about is weight distribution:
Now we are standing with our feet hip width apart, we want to imagine three points of a triangle running through the soles of our feet i.e. from our big toe, little toe and heel. Each of those three points needs to have equal weight balance so you should not be able to lift your toes or heels.
Practice these two set up points whenever you can i.e. when you are standing talking to someone don’t lean across onto one leg and put more stress down one side than the other. It makes a big difference!
